Parking

Isle of Man parking guide — Douglas parking zones, Ramsey, Peel, Castletown maps, charges, permits and free parking areas.

Parking on the Isle of Man

Parking on the island is generally easier and cheaper than the UK, but Douglas can be tricky. Here's what you need to know.

Douglas

  • Chester Street car park — Multi-storey, central Douglas. Pay and display.
  • Shaw's Brow — Large surface car park near Strand Street shopping.
  • Bottleneck car park — Near the harbour, convenient for Sea Terminal.
  • On-street parking — Yellow disc zones in central Douglas. Display a cardboard parking disc (free from shops/council offices). Usually 1-2 hour maximum.
  • Prom (Douglas promenade) — Free but limited during summer events and TT.

Other Towns

  • Ramsey — Free parking in most areas. Market Place car park, Albert Road.
  • Peel — Free parking at the harbour area and market car park.
  • Castletown — Free parking near the castle and square.
  • Port Erin — Beach car park (disc or pay in summer).
Parking Discs: The IoM uses cardboard parking discs (not meters) in many areas. Set your arrival time and display on the dashboard. Available free from local shops, council offices and tourist information. Fines for overstaying are modest but do get issued.

During TT

Douglas parking becomes extremely limited during TT fortnight. Park-and-ride services operate from the TT Grandstand and other locations. Plan ahead or use public transport.
