Weather
IoM weather is maritime — mild but changeable. It can rain sideways. Key facts:
- Average temperature: 7-15°C (milder than UK mainland thanks to the Gulf Stream)
- Rainfall: ~1,100mm/year (wetter on the hills, drier on the coast)
- Wind: Exposed westerly position means it's often windy. Snaefell can be brutal.
- Fog: Common, especially spring/summer on the mountain. Can appear suddenly.

Beach Safety: The RNLI operates stations at Douglas, Ramsey, Peel and Port Erin. Not all beaches are lifeguarded. Check tide times before walking to islands like Fort Island (Castletown) or St Michael's Isle — you can get cut off.
